The Reverend Charles W. Everson
21st Rector of St. Mary's

Fr. Charles has served at St. Mary's since August 2017. He began serving in ministry in college as a music minister, and after graduating served for two years as a missionary to college students in Paris, France. After returning to Kansas City, he began a 15-year career in banking, five years of which he served in executive management. He left the bank in August 2020 when the parish hired him full-time.
Charles serves on the board of directors of St. Luke's Bishop Spencer Place, an Episcopal retirement community, and the Bishop Kemper School for Ministry, his alma mater. He is an oblate of Conception Abbey.
Since February 2022, in addition to his full-time ministry at St. Mary's, Charles serves as Vocations Missioner for the Diocese of West Missouri. He works closely with Bishop Bruce and the Commission on Ministry in the recruitment, discernment, and formation of those called to vocational ministry in the Church, both lay and ordained.
Charles is a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies, and earned his Masters of Business Administration at Baker University. He graduated from the Bishop Kemper School for Ministry in Topeka, Kansas, with a Certificate in Presbyteral Studies. His passions lie in contemplative Benedictine spirituality, liturgy, and choral music. He sings as a tenor in Te Deum, a sacred music ensemble. Charles and his husband Jay live in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Kansas City.
