St. George Choristers of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, named after one of our patron Saints, are a dedicated ensemble of volunteer and staff singers who provide musical leadership for the weekly Solemn High Mass, major feast days, and occasional services of Matins, Evensong, and Lessons and Carols. Rooted in the rich traditions of Anglo-Catholic worship, the choir upholds a standard of musical excellence that honors the theological and spiritual depth of the liturgy.
The choir’s repertoire spans the breadth and beauty of the Anglican choral tradition, including weekly Anglican psalm chanting and anthems by composers such as Byrd, Stanford, Howells, and Willan. Alongside this, the Choristers offer Renaissance polyphony and Gregorian chant to express the parish’s continuity with the worship of the ancient church.
St. George Choristers rehearse on Thursday evenings and sing for 10am Sunday Mass from September through May. We warmly welcome inquiries from those who feel called to offer their musical gifts in this tradition. While musical expectations are high, the audition process is informal and centers on conversation, vocal assessment, and shared commitment.
