Mrs. Sylvia Rose August

Sylvia is a native New Yorker who grew up attending the Church of the Intercession in Manhattan. She worked for the federal government for 28 years. Her work included public arts administration and historic preservation. She coordinated the selection and installation of public art in federal buildings in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska.
Her work as a preservation architect included preserving historic federal buildings in California, Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, and Nebraska. Sylvia is a visual artist who has exhibited and sold her photography and collage work at Kansas City area galleries. Sylvia lives with her husband, Scott Klingman, and their fur babies, Molly, Munson, Junior, and Wilma. Sylvia serves on the Hospitality and Sharon Hunter-Putsch Art Gallery committees at St. Mary’s.
