The Reverend Robert Hutcherson
Rector Emeritus
Fr. Robert Hutcherson is a priest of the Diocese of West Missouri, retired, and serving by invitation in St Mary’s parish. Fr Hutcherson, a.k.a. “Fr Bob”, received the degrees of STB and MDiv from the General Theological Seminary, New York City, and was ordained priest in the church in 1971. After ministry as Assistant Chaplain and Priest in Charge of the Episcopal Church Foundation and Chapel of St John the Divine, Champaign -Urbana, IL., in the Diocese of Springfield, Fr Hutcherson was received into the Diocese of West MO in 1976, and served as Vicar of Church of the Resurrection, Blue Springs and St Michael’s, Independence, until June 1978 when he was instituted Rector of St Mary’s, Kansas City. He served in this ministry until his resignation in 1983 and his Institution as Rector of St Matthew’s, Raytown where he served 25 years until retirement in June 2008. Fr Bob is a native of Marshall, Missouri, and earned the degrees of B.S. in Agr from the Univ of MO, and M.S. in Economics from Purdue Univ. He is married to Anne Valentin Hutcherson, a priest and Associate Rector of St Andrew’s Church, KC, and has a son, Michael, of Cambridge, MA and Islesboro, ME. The honor of Rector Emeritus, was given to Fr. Hutcherson by St Mary’s Vestry on his 45th anniversary of ordination in 2016. He is at present an active participant in the ministry and worship of the parish.
