A historic landmark among the skyscrapers at 13th and Holmes Streets, St. Mary’s is Kansas City’s oldest and most diverse Episcopal Church. Our historic Anglo-Catholic traditions of beautiful worship and service to the poor of our city attract people from across the Metro. We strive to live and spread the Good News of Jesus Christ in the urban core of Kansas City.
Our parish began in 1857 as St. Luke's Church a few blocks away from our current location at a time when Kansas City was still a small frontier outpost. Yet like the city around us, our parish has changed to meet the challenges of the present day. While we worship in an ancient style and in a Victorian Gothic building, our outlook is fresh and new. We are a progressive community that is not limited to one race, socio-economic level, age, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Eclectic and always inclusive, members of our parish share a love of our historic architecture, ceremonial prayer life, and exceptional music program as well as a dedication to social justice.
